Kineto Femtocell Gateway Adds 3GPP IUH Interface Support
Company successfully conducts multi-vendor interoperability testing

Kineto Wireless, Inc., the key innovator and leading supplier of solutions that enable delivery of mobile services over broadband, today announced it has released a new software version of its femtocell gateway product that adds support for the 3GPP standard Iuh interface. In addition, the company has successfully conducted Iuh interoperability testing with a leading femtocell access point vendor.
"This latest release of our femtocell gateway, with proven Iuh interoperability, enables operators to realize the true advantages of industry standard interfaces," said Ken Kolderup, vice president and general manager of Kineto’s Infrastructure Business Unit.
This new version is now available as a software upgrade to Kineto’s existing femtocell gateway, which has been selected for multiple commercial deployments spanning the consumer and enterprise markets, with SFR in France being the first of these to announce their femtocell service.
Kolderup added: "There has been significant commercial traction in the femtocell market recently, and we are pleased to be at the forefront in terms of business and technical leadership."
An October 2009 fixed-mobile convergence and femtocell report from Infonetics forecast the number of 2G and 3G femtocells is expected to increase five-fold from 2009 to 2010 alone, with the market for femtocell gateway controllers to have a compound annual growth rate of 160% through 2013.
